Technical Business Analyst

This is a non-supervisory technical position supporting the Catastrophe Modeling Team. The person in this role will primarily be responsible for using SAS and SQL to provide support through a wide range of projects and/or assignments. In addition, he/she will also gain experience to additional technical/business processes through assignments.
The position will be responsible for:
Writing, editing, and/or maintaining SAS programs used to retrieve and stage exposure data for use in catastrophe models
Writing, editing, and/or maintaining SQL scripts used for Allstate’s reinsurance program
Technical
Building tools to streamline processes and/or to aid others in making business decisions
Installing and maintaining third party software products
Maintaining Monthly SQL Audit process
Handling various technology processes (e.g., software approval and security variances)
Providing technical assistance to other team members
Supporting the general technical needs of the team
Business
Validation of exposure data and catastrophe models
Generation of Corporate Probable Maximum Loss estimates for external and internal reporting purposes
Generation of information necessary to support Pricing, Finance & Planning, Treasury, and Risk Management
Research projects for the Catastrophe Modeling Team
Skills/Abilities required:
Analytical and Quantitative - Intermediate
Integrate and analyze data from multiple sources as to reach conclusions and make recommendations - Intermediate
Project management - Intermediate
Communication both written and oral - Beginner
Problem Solving – Intermediate
SAS/SQL - Intermediate
Experience required:
Proficiency with SAS and SQL
Proficiency with MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Prior insurance/catastrophe modeling experience a plus
Education Requirements:
BS/BA in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science
