Perkins Coie has an immediate opening for a Power Business Intelligence Analyst. The ideal candidate in this role will design and develop business intelligence (BI) solutions using Microsoft Power BI. You will serve as a data visualization expert to advise customers on data visualizations best practices and assist with the gathering and engineering of requirements to ensure efficient and effective designs. You will follow standard development techniques to ensure the integrity and supportability of the visualizations
theyyou create. You will work with database administrators and architects to create dataflows, clean up data, document dataflows, and design data mart as well as create data models using Power Query and/or SQL.
Design interactive dashboards using Power BI.
Advise customers on the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of various design options.
Extract, transform, and load data using Power Query, SQL, SSIS, and related technologies.
Develop data models using Power BI Desktop and/or SQL.
Develop and implement role-based and row-based security models within Power BI that restrict data according to requirements.
Validate the security of Power BI dashboards.
Elicit and document user design stories.
Update dashboards as needed.
Manage source files and associated artifacts.
Assist with the administration of the Power BI tenant.
Document user requirements, dataflows, and dashboard construction.
Write measures using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
Three years of experience working directly with Microsoft Power BI. Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and experience with both Agile and Waterfall methods. Strong Excel skills. Expert knowledge of data visualization best practices. Ability to work closely with business and IT stakeholders to define problems and design data visualization solutions in a team environment. Expert knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), data structures, hierarchies, and business rule complexities. Able to administer a Power BI tenant, including the configuration of governance policies, usage monitoring, and provisioning of licenses, capacities, and organizational resources. Proficient in Structure Query Language (SQL).
Experience working in large law or professional service firms. Working knowledge of Azure Data Lakes, Azure Data Bricks, and Azure Data Factories. Microsoft 70-778 (Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Power BI) Certified. Microsoft 70-761 (Querying Data with Transact-SQL) Certified. Demonstrated ability to interactively test API calls using Postman or similar technologies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Three or more years of experience working with Microsoft Power BI. Five or more years of experience performing data analysis. Five or more years of experience working with Microsoft SQL or similar technology. Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, including Office 365 and OneDrive.
