Technical Business Analyst Position Features: Responsible for analyzing company functions, processes, and activities to improve computer-based business applications for the most effective use of money, materials, equipment and people. Acts as a partner with the business to facilitate and implement technology solutions. Responsible for writing technical database system specific requirements that will ensure the technology solution will meet the needs of the business. Leverages appropriate technical tool for comprehensive data analysis.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
The ideal candidate will have a background working cross-functionally to map core processes and identify opportunities for automation. In addition to the workflow improvement, this resource will work with various department heads to pinpoint key performance indicators and coordinate with IT on developing the tools and reporting to support these efforts.
Role and Responsibilities:
Gathers, interprets and analyzes information from written documentation and in-person discussions; responsible for analyzing system data across multiple business lines.
Creates detailed functional requirements (e.g. business processes, business rules, exception rules) using business appropriate terminology.
Creates detailed non-functional (e.g. service level response times, system availability).
Creates detailed service mapping and design requirements using actual technical database construct terminology.
Provides updates to management on the status of requirements, project risk remediation, defect remediation and project change requests.
Develops reports to conduct data analysis and validation.
Confers with area/department to analyze current operational procedures and trends and identify problems.
Conducts business analysis and recommends technical alternative solutions to management as to course of action that best meets the organization's goals.
May be responsible for monitoring and reporting to management on the status of departmental projects: Anticipates and identifies issues that could inhibit achieving the project goals and objectives and implementing corrective actions and mitigation strategies.
Research, evaluate and assess the financial impact of issues identified in data/processes
Analyzes requirements. procedures and problems to automate processing or to improve existing business systems.
Creates multiuser, real-time, robust database solutions.
Acts as subject matter expert to provide business and technical expertise in requirements solicitation, system analysis, technical design. programming and documentation of business applications/systems.
Provides oversight and resolves complex issues. optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing timely follow-up on identified issues.
Partners with team members to develop project schedules, reports and documentation.
Experience & Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field Required---or equivalent work experience in technical data analysis, conducting system analysis meetings, developing system design document, developing project plans with achievable milestones and deadlines and mediating different department demands to gain approvals on system scope and design
Broad system level expertise across multiple computing platforms and technologies with the ability to influence direction around information management at the Enterprise level
Detail-oriented, enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Communication and workflow facilitation and inquiry skills
Understanding of the software development lifecycle
General project management skills
Able to define system and functional requirements
