Description: The Adjacencies Business Development Manager (ABDM) will be responsible for planning, executing and managing growth efforts beyond core business within the Special Programs line-of-business (SPLOB) and SPLOB engagement in LM Space Enterprise-level opportunities. The ABDM will report to the SPLOB Strategy and Business Development Director. The position requires leveraging current core programs and capabilities to penetrate adjacent markets - both domestically in the Intelligence Community and internationally - to grow the LOB, diversify its portfolio and meet Long-Range Plan (LRP) commitments. The AM BDM will lead a team of direct and indirect reports from BD and other functional areas to discover, qualify and mature new opportunities, develop discriminating value propositions and offerings, and bid effectively to achieve strong win rates. Specific responsibilities include:• Leading development and execution of strategic growth plans focused on adjacent markets.• Leading efforts to assess viability of adjacent markets, addressable customer budgets and competitive landscape to assess where investments and bandwidth should be focused.• Leading the identification, prioritization and qualification of pursuits through the LM Space new business process and managing the overall new business portfolio to ensure diversification of risk and achievement of LRP growth goals.• Managing and orchestrating adjacent customer engagement activities across the SPLOB, as defined in strategic and capture plans.• Overseeing pursuit, capture and proposal activities within Adjacent markets, ensuring alignment with strategy, discriminating value propositions, competitive bid approach and high win rate.• Supporting SPLOB new business collaborations with the greater LM Space enterprise, working with the BDD, the Advanced Programs Development (APD) VP and representatives from other LOBs and the Enterprise APD organization.• Management of new business-related internal dollar and people resources pertaining to Adjacencies-related new business, ensuring efficient and effective use of internal funds, operating within budgets and re-prioritizing activities as needed.• Leading a team of experienced BD professionals with relevant customer domain expertise and performing manager functions involving recruitment, training, performance assessment, prioritization of tasks and employee engagement.• Communicating with and engaging SPLOB and LM Space senior leadership for the purpose of statusing, obtaining approvals and building advocacy for growth plans.• Collaborating closely with organizations across the SPLOB, LM Space and the broader **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. to ensure coordination of SP new business activities and maximum leverage of LMC resources to grow the business.Must have an active TS/SCI Clearance. US citizenship required.Desired Skills: . Basic Qualifications: • Experience developing growth strategy, applying those strategies to the identification and qualification of new markets and specific opportunities, executing a capture plan to shape and position, and developing a discriminating offering with strong value proposition.• Strong analytical skills, including business case and M&A valuation capabilities to quantitatively filter potential M&A candidates and strategic partnership opportunities.• Strong experience with space-based remote sensing and RF markets, applicable Intel community customers and their missions, enabling technologies, core programs and key acquisitions.• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in developing and delivering superior products with constrained schedules and resources.• At least 10 years of experience working new business activities, including some experience in capture management, proposal development and customer account management.• At least 5 years of demonstrated team leadership that includes proven communication and presentation skills, effective decision making, building consensus, conflict resolution, and sustaining the team's energy and commitment.• Direct experience engaging with high-level government stakeholders and customers in the Intelligence Community to understand mission need and effectively communicate a value proposition.• Preferred experience engaging with Congressional professional staff and International customers.• Willingness to travel domestically frequently and internationally as needed, with occasional over-the-weekend and extended travel• Demonstrated ability to proactively drive change and aggressively engage competitively to grow a large business unit in the aerospace industry.• Leadership and engagement skills to motivate and effectively direct a team of BD professionals.• Very strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.• TS/SCI clearance• Industry-applicable B.S. or B.A. degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
