Chamberlain is seeking a Business Analyst for a Fortune 50 client in Deerfield, IL. Position specifics and job description are outlined below:
Role: Business Analyst
Location: Deerfield, IL
Type: Contract (7 months initial)
The primary responsibility of this role is to solicit, define, and manage requirements for projects. This individual should have experience with requirements management and software development methodology (if needed) and have worked extensively with business users and analysts with focus on Quality Assurance. This position will define the business requirements and technology-independent process and data models for solutions that meet the needs for various business areas and will bridge the gap between the business customer and the technology solution providers (e.g., vendors, infrastructure team, and development team). A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
This position will be responsible for assisting the Cost Transformation Program with Data Analytics. Position will also be:
Understanding and documenting business processes and workflows and their relationships to current and future solutions.
Partnering with business users to fully surface their requirements; conducting interviews with key project stakeholders and document and presenting the results.
Defining use cases to articulate new functional needs and the roles of each class of application user.
Analyzing the impact of change requests. Supporting traceability from requirements through to QA; assisting in the definition of test plans and testing strategies and in the creation of test cases.
Assisting in the definition of roll out, training and user support plans.
Creating and/or reviewing manuals, procedures, and related user documentation; ensuring documentation is targeted to the appropriate audience.
Responsible for leveraging available data to identify actions that can be taken to reduce loss (any form of savings).
Develops ideas for analysis, leads the procurement of necessary data, builds and executes reports/analysis and communicates the results with the team.
Responsible for all aspects of data management, analysis, report creation and the delivery of business intelligence
Participates on cross-functional teams where appropriate to a) provide technical intelligence and/or reporting expertise, b) add business intelligence and relevant context to discussions and c) assist project teams with decision making.
A bachelor's degree in a related area and 5-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Analytical skills for transforming defined business needs into requirements.
Experience with manipulation of large datasets (for example: efficiently extracting, transforming, merging, sorting and summarizing multi-million row datasets to prepare information for data visualization or statistical analyses).
Experience with basic level skill in data visualization and reporting software packages such as SAS, Stata, Tableau or R.
Significant SQL expertise (must have)
Moderate exposure/experience with retail data, particularly inventory and point-of-sale concepts (must have)
Quantitative/business background (vs. a pure IT professional)
Data visualization skills, e.g. Tableau
Exposure to one or more analytic platforms, e.g. SAS, Minitab, R, Stata, Python, etc.
