Programmer Jobs

A programmer performs programming and analysis functions as a member of the technical team using standard procedures and methods. A programmer is responsible for software and system development and coordinates with business analysts to ensure that business requirements are met.
A programmer designs codes, tests the system, and debugs and documents software programs. Other day-to-day duties of a programmer include pursuing data-quality issues, executing business intelligence initiatives, developing necessary reports, training customers in the use of business intelligence tools, translating business requirements into physical data, undertaking data mapping, and developing test planning and test execution. Executing computer systems analysis and computer programming duties, providing IT training and support, and participating in system design may also be part of a programmer’s job.
To apply for a programmer job, a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required. Previous software development and programming experience is also important. Other prerequisites of the job are good oral and written communication skills and excellent computer (BI/ Data Warehousing, SQL, ETL tools, etc.) skills.
