Business process reengineering is a methodology based on analysis of business enterprises designed to increase efficiency and eliminate work which does not add value to the overall business process. It was first identified in 1990 by MIT computer science professor Michael Hammer, who argued in an article in the Harvard Business Review that many business managers were failing at their jobs because they were transferring to automated technology outdated work which, rather than being preserved, should be altogether eliminated. Many businesses at the time were automating certain processes which had been rendered obsolete and added nothing to the value of the products or services being offered to customers.
Networking is probably one of the toughest and most important aspects of the job search — not to mention our careers and overall professional development. Unfortunately, it's also one of the most hated, misunderstood, and, consequently, poorly practiced areas of the job search, too, which is probably why many of us dread networking altogether. Still, like it or not, we simply must do it. It's too difficult to land a job, an internship, or a new client today without networking.
If you compared you career to The Wizard of Oz, would you be at the start of the path, where the Lion lacked courage, the Tin Man had no heart, and the Scarecrow had no brain? Would you be Dorothy when she was moving forward to find her way back home or Dorothy in the beginning of the movie when she was afraid because the wicked witch was chasing her?
